It is a well known fact that Philips make some of best high end TV's you can own. The 47PFL7404 has nearly all the attributes of the more expensive set's with a far lower price tag -
infact the 9664 is 50% more expensive!
How is this achieved? - in direct comparison to the 47PFL9664 the 47PFL7404 does not have ambilight and the motion processing is 100Hz as opposed to 200Hz. Equally there is no ethernet and the fifth HDMI.
Having said this you may consider that for value for money the 47PFL7404 is a very attractive proposition; and while motion control is 100Hz the performance is not unlike the best of the exemplary motion controlled Sony's.

The signal processing is extensively upgraded to support this much higher signal quality and resolution.
